Valentine’s Day is almost here, and if you’re reading this, then chances are you are like many of us…. a last-minute date planner desperately scouring the internet for ideas. Fear not, our fellow procrastinators, for we have some ideas about unexpected quirkily romantic things you can do on a date in Singapore (we also understand that Valentine’s Day dates might be a trending SEO phrase at the moment)
Let’s start with the classic – a romantic meal together. When the weather is good, Fort Canning Park can be a great place to go to with a basket of homecooked food, a bottle of wine and a mat to sit on. This lush hilltop park has plenty of quiet spots for a romantic picnic. The outdoor portion at Gardens by the Bay or the Marina Barrage are good alternatives for this no-frills and yet thoughtful meal. These can be followed by a nice stroll down the Marina Bay as an after-meal activity.
If you want to switch things up a bit, how about a romantic boat ride? Not just any boat ride, mind you. A boat ride down the Singapore River. Go to the exposed deck at the back and you will have a panoramic view of the Singapore City skyline.
Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, why not try indoor skydiving? Nothing says “I’m falling for you” quite like throwing yourself into a wind tunnel while wearing a flight suit. Just don’t forget to scream “I love you” with a full face of wind blown into your face.
If you are having a delayed Valentine’s Day over the weekend (or if you just don’t want to fork out the Valentine’s Day “tax”), go stargazing at the Science Centre Observatory. The observatory currently has programmes every Friday evening and offers a unique experience to see the stars and planets up close.
Taking a walking tour around the city’s street art is always a great way to explore and discover hidden gems in Singapore, but it is also a good way to create lasting memories through silly photo moments together. Check out our range of Free Walking Tours, or go for a trip down memory lane with us on our “Growing Up” Walk.
And finally, for the nature enthusiast, take a romantic hike through one of our many nature trails. Our favourite is a romantic stroll at the beautiful Southern Ridges and Henderson Waves. This scenic 10km trail connects several parks and offers stunning views of the city. You can also end with an unusual dining experience in a cable car at the top of Mount Faber.
So there you have it, folks – five last-minute Valentine’s Day date ideas that are sure to make your significant other fall in love with you all over again. And who knows, maybe they’ll even forgive you for waiting until the last minute.
Happy Valentine’s Day, and good luck!
