The East is the smallest in terms land area, amongst the five regions of Singapore.
Home to the ethnic districts of Katong/Joo Chiat/Geylang Serai, the historic Changi Prison, the iconic Changi Airport, the town hubs of Tampines/Bedok, the off-shore island of Pulau Ubin and the definition-defying red-light district (food haven) of Geylang, it is definitely an eclectic mix of Singapore compressed into one small package.
Bedok is the region’s most populous town and Tampines is the regional centre of the area. Comprising 11,000 hectares, it includes six planning areas and is also home to Singapore’s Changi Airport and Paya Lebar Airbase
