Kampong Glam used to be the heart of the Malay sultanate in Singapore. The old Istana still stands proudly in the centre of this culture district, alongside the majestic Masjid Sultan, however, the former palace grounds has almost been completely transformed.
Today, shops that showcase traditional Malay, Muslim and Arabic cultures co-exists side by side with trendy new shops. Colorful sidestreets and hip back alleys are open for exploration and ideal for those Insta-worthy shots.
