This Experience is our love letter to all things Kueh!

Kueh is very much a part of common SouthEast Asian “culture vocabulary”. Most of us would have memories munching on the pretty and delicious treats. Some of us would have seen them offered up for prayers and rituals during festivals. The lucky few amongst us would remember sitting around a table with family members hand-shaping the intricate and delicate shapes together.

In this experience, we will introduce you to some of our favourite kuehs, and show you the evolution of these tasty treats over the years. We will also attempt the unusual pairing of kuehs with spirits from one of the independent bottlers in Singapore.

This experience is a jointly brought to you by Indie Singapore, Furama City Centre and Interco-MLE.

Tour Details

This experience will be divided into two parts.

For the first hour, we will go for a little walk through Chinatown, and visit some of our Kueh Masters. We will share with you some of their stories, and their trials and tribulations in maintaining the traditions of their decades-old businesses.

Next, we will explore a new way of eating Kueh together. With our partners from Furama City Centre (FCC) and INTERCO-MLE, we have curated a selection of our favourite kuehs, and we will pair them with 4 different whiskies and rum. In this adventure, we will discover the different taste profiles and pair our favourite treats together.

The wonderful chefs at FCC have even created a special kueh just for this experience.

What to Expect

A small-group experience that spans 2.5 hours.

We will learn about the history of some of the most prolific pastry makers in Chinatown, and end with a nice sit down tasting session where we pair the delicious kuehs with amazing spirits

During the tasting session, our spirit master will pair the taste of the kuehs with unique small batch spirits*

 

*Spirits sampled are seasonal, and may change based on availability

Our tours will follow all current Safe Distancing Measures (SDM) as prescribed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) during the Circuit Breaker (CB) period.

This will include limiting the number of guests allowed on each tour. Guest in one tour group may also have to be further divided into smaller sub groups with sub group size mandated by the current SDM
