See the Art, Meet the Artist! Our first limited engagement for an Art Walk through Chinatown.
Singaporean Artist Yip Yew Chong‘s murals are highlights of many tours that we do. They are iconic, colorful and extremely Instagram-able, yet at the same time we think that they tell a segment of our story from a more innocent time. The older ones among us might notice familiar scenes and nostalgic items painted into the walls, and the younger ones can use them to visualize the stories that were told to us by our elders.
On this walk, we want to share with you the tales that inspire these murals, and show you Easter Eggs and little secrets that we have discovered over the years. More than anything, we want to tell you the Singapore Story through these gorgeous and very Singaporean works of art.
The tour will end at Yip Yew Chong’s first solo exhibition “Something, Somewhere, Somewhen”. We will have refreshments and light snacks with the artist, as Yip Yew Chong shares a bit more about his art and his growing up years in Chinatown that inspired his art.

Yip Yew Chong is a Singapore artist that grew up in Chinatown. His art is inspired by his childhood memories and tell the stories of a more innocent time. The art is intricately detailed, and we love how we discover new things with every viewing. His most visible pieces are the murals that can be seen in many of our ethnic districts. We feel that the Chinatown ones come from a place of love.
Join us as we go for a walk down memory lane. We will end the tour with a meet-the-artist session at his first solo art exhibition Something Somewhere Somewhen. On this tour, you will get to:
Our tours will follow all current Safe Distancing Measures (SDM) as prescribed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) during the Circuit Breaker (CB) period.
This will include limiting the number of guests allowed on each tour. Guest in one tour group may also have to be further divided into smaller sub groups with sub group size mandated by the current SDM
With narrow corridors and maze-y passageways, it is easy to get lost in the charming suburban district of Blair Plain. Join us for a walk through this tranquil district where we will bring you to our favourite chill out areas, some gorgeous Instagram spots and also an art gallery with hidden depths.
Hear the stories, taste the history. This small-group, small-bites tour will bring you to sample from some of the oldest food stores in Singapore.
